NDVI

The normalised difference vegetation index is used to determine the health of a crop, we capture this information with special cameras that have been modified to look not only at visible light but also near infrared.  We take a series of images looking straight down at the ground and then process them.   We then use special software to create whats called an orthomosaic, on a basic level it is essentially a large photo stitched together.  This can be delivered with not only the NDVI image but a regular visible photo too, this will help you to identify the specific areas.  One item that sets us apart from the competition is that we use calibration targets, that means that you can trust that the NDVI values and that return visits can accurately be compared to one another.  We dont just one calibration surface, no we use 3 across a range of NIR spectrum.  Often places offering this service wont calibrate their imagery and you can only gauge it’s accuracy by looking at a physical sample and the imagery, and it is impossible to then compare images taken at different times.

Crop Insurance Photos

You have crop insurance for a reason, to protect against various conditions but what if you have to claim?  Most PDS’s will state the assessor will need access to your records and complete access to the property.  How do you prove you had a heathly crop in the paddock that has been damaged by hail when the neighbors paddock is not looking as good as yours was.  The easy answer is that you have high resolution photos taken, these are typically taken at a 30 degree down angle at a low to moderate altitude over the paddock.  The photos are time / date stamped and GPS tagged so they know when and where the photos were taken.  There is then no dispute about the health of the crop, there is tangible evidence that covers all the area insured.

Land Planning (not surveying)

We are able to assist you with aerial imagery for the purpose of planning, this could be as simple as aerial pictures that provide a cost effective bird’s eye view through to a point cloud (not survey grade unless a licensed surveyor is involved) to assist with use of the land.
